Process

Process

1. Begin with sketches, design concept, inspiration.

2. Create the 3D model of the design in CAD: done in-house in my studio in London.

3. Send 3D files out for production:

For my small batches, usually 10 pieces or less, I work with a production house in Mumbai, India.

For micro-batches of 2-3 pieces and my design prototypes, I use a production house in the Netherlands.

For one-off designs and custom work, I use a local caster in Hatton Garden, London.

4. Receive the finished pieces back to my studio in London.

5. Quality control check, and add finishes and fixtures like clasps, chains, and earring backings.

6. Pack, box, and ship pieces to customers from both London, UK and South Carolina, US.

3D-Printing + Casting

When my producers receive my 3D files:

1. They are processed for 3D-printing in high-resolution wax

2. A plaster mold of the wax 3D-print is created

3. The wax 3D-print is melted away (lost-wax technique), leaving a void/mold

4. Metal of choice (usually sterling silver) is cast into the plaster (void) mold

5. The plaster is broken away to reveal the piece of raw metal

6. Pieces undergo finishing and polishing and are then shipped back to my studio
